We are looking for an engineering leader to help us build a full-time engineering organization to expand our platform for Salesforce and beyond.
At Blue Canvas we make developer tooling for "low code" devs. We have built a Git-based DevOps solution that enables Salesforce developers and admins to track and deploy code and configuration changes between Salesforce environments. This allows them to move faster without breaking things.
Since launching in 2017, we have found product market fit with customers like Spotify, Slack, Twilio, Sysco and Hershey's. At nearly $1M in annual recurring revenue, we are ready to transition from a founder-driven team into a well-oiled organization that can help us scale our initial success.
The founding team is hitting its natural limits and we are facing new challenges around scaling and supporting our growing customer base. (Our founders are still running support, for example). As a startup working with enterprise customers we are working to combine speed and agility with uptime, stability and security.
We are a distributed team first and foremost, with clusters around San Francisco (sales) and Berlin (engineering). We value strong written and verbal communication using long-form documents, Slack and Zoom. Spending face time together is important (after COVID) and we do bi-annual retreats where the whole team meets up.
This position should work European hours.
We believe in fanatical support and working (uncomfortably) closely with our customers to understand their needs. This customer focus has been the key to our success.
As a founding engineering leader, we’ll want you to drive a vision for this role as well as for the engineering organization. Comfort with ambiguity and a strong vision for how an engineering organization ought to run are a must. In a given day you might:
You’ll start with us in a small, tight-knit team and have the opportunity to grow the role as we grow. We are looking for a founding engineering leader to compliment our rogue founder skillsets with a bit more organization.
Our ideal candidate is a player-coach, with a technical background and the ambition to lead a 30+ person engineering organization in the next few years. You will work directly with the co-founders to define and execute an ambitious 2021 roadmap. In the first year, we are looking for someone to help hire and manage our first 5 developers and empower them to be at their best. Over the following two years, we’ll expect this person to scale the engineering organization to meet our growth.
Email jobs@bluecanvas.io with the subject “Engineering leader at Blue Canvas” and tell us a bit about why the role interests you. As a distributed team we value written communication so please feel free to expand on why you think this is the right job for you.
